you're watching r.t. if you've just joined us a very warm welcome to you here's a look at our headlines this hour austerity meets the morality greek lawmakers of all the add to cards of all the disabled and low income pensioners foreign creditors reject athens planned savings as too big. a deadly car bomb brought to the syrian city of aleppo shortly after now al qaida and the militant pledged support for the syrian rebels fears mount of the country's conflict is getting increasingly hijacked by foreign forces. and kosovo shuts down
8:31 am
a foreign supervisory office in an ad to which its heralding as a final step to solvency thousands of un major police forces remain in the breakaway region. by the asia pacific economic summits ended on a promising for many countries and their leaders next mexican president felipe calderon talks exclusively to our t.v. about what he sees as his nation's role in a changing world coming up. so for since i was just going to president thank you for joining us let's talk about relations between the region's countries and the us they're actually quite tense with some of the states how would you describe relations between washington d.c. and mexico city washington on one of the songs as you said there are a lot of holes in our relations with. us but in general we have
8:32 am
a good working relationship that's true both of my personal interactions with president obama and the relations between our administrations the u.s. and mexico have a long history of ups and downs and are still the case today more than one hundred years ago one cannot president made a famous statement poor mexico so far from god. however i think our proximity to the u.s. has its benefits as well as disadvantages it's great to have the world's biggest market just around the corner. with a lot of billions of dollars worth of mexican workers it is crucial for our economy for the problems we share immigration and illegal drugs it's a challenge to be a neighbor to the world's largest illegal drugs consumer market with all the rest of the world trying to smuggle drugs into the u.s. across our border and this complicates our relations but i think we have managed to establish a constructive dialogue at least that's true of my government in order to fight
8:33 am
these problems together and we have nobody in print at home to off this program. take it i want to see and the u.s. has had to elect a new president do you think anything is likely to change after the election a sexy a miss. nothing changes before the election and there is always the temptation to try and once pre-election campaign in the competing parties often undertake fairly unfriendly steps to secure support from various targets there were such incidents in the past i can tell you about whenever some farming etc in the us was losing a competition to mexican producers its representatives would seek. to question the mexican economy fortunately no such move this time and hopefully we won't have to face anything like this in the future but i wouldn't want to intrude into the decision making. american people that are very much hope and mature and responsible
8:34 am
relations of the us of mexico enjoy right now be maintaining after the elections. he said you have great economic ties but is there anything that can be done to reduce economic dependence on the economy. saying you know yes we are undertaking steps to achieve that so if you're on an active participation in. our efforts to set up it's a significant alliance with other latin american countries. as well as off a future membership in the transpacific partnership demonstrate our desire to diversify only because of course we realize that the u.s. remain a key partner africa geographic location for me to want to expand our trade. is new mexico in the world well in mexico other words i would very much like mexican goods to go on sale in russia and russia. to come to mexico but we want more
8:35 am
tourists to visit us this strategy of diversification that we have in force recently would make our economy less dependent on the u.s. we are working on it but it's not easy because our economies are obviously heavily intertwined. due to the very obvious reason. why. i'm not a drug trafficking what's your assessment of the progress in the war on drugs what do you make of the popular statement that the drug trafficking would shrink if there was a decline in demand in the u.s. so. i mean ok let's start from the very beginning of a practical i don't like the term war because ultimately it's not about the drugs but i would like you know mexico to become a rule of law state where people feel safe my priority is not to eradicate drugs but to create a secure environment for people and their families. and anyone incased in drug trafficking attack our people. because what they do is illegal i'll tell you what
8:36 am
our track is here because there was a time when our law enforcement agencies were degrading shrinking oh they became fragile and laced with corruption to put it simply many of them were failing to form their twenty's and if that was some case they were taken over by the criminals and of the list i know that in many countries organized crime is growing stronger countries police and agencies and this trend prevails. i think our main a key thing is that we've managed to curb this trend because now we're reforming the police force as part of the project to reinforce our government. by policemen have to be honest well trained and have access to state of the art equipment that will make. up in this respect i believe we're doing very well. more problem related to violence gang clashes some of what's happening in mexico is typical for all latin american countries where you see not only do criminal gangs smuggle drugs into the u.s. they also attempt to distribute them across latin america. this leads to.
8:37 am
in spite of this as last year source significant decline in violence and the number of murders but we're working on it still there is a long way to go. for the second part of your question yes you know the main reason for our drug trafficking problem or place is that the u.s. is the main drug consumer in the world. far to mexico and many other countries if the demand for drugs were to decrease in the u.s. on what we would indeed have problems to deal with look at the market. and how it is going through economic crises mostly true. i'm not an american plane the global economic crisis. the way i see growth will take place over the next decade. in the region by six months which is located in latin america the big picture is that our economies are growing enemy new jobs are being created
8:38 am
is the same for mexico our economy is growing on the new jobs are being created because many mexican products can now compete in the global market and the role of growing economies is to give impetus to global economic growth for me ask him to use an analogy he previously or economic growth was driven by an engine of growth but that would be the european the us economy on it because what happens now is that the us engine is still in order and while the european one is not only actually pulling the other way. the center of growth is moving to asia pacific and latin america there will play an important role in the growth of us. how do you explain that in america significant economic growth when. there are different reasons. on the one hand and it's especially the case in south america the reason is that these countries produce primary commodities including food my biggest global food prices growth which happens for various reasons but to
8:39 am
a large extent of human due to the growing demand in china and india a lot of the economies that produce food such as argentina and brazil grow as well that's one reason for this is not the case of mexico you know what i see in mexico we're seeing manufacturing growth become more competitive with gasoline we have invested significant ones in infrastructure and higher education one hundred thirteen thousand engineers graduate from the mexican universities annually that's more in germany canada. this is given our economy a sizable competitive advantage we offer a lot of benefits to investors because we have lower taxes so now car and cell phone manufacturers can buy the parts they need from any country in the. world which brings their business to a higher competitive level mexico's economic growth and even by manufacturing which is growing much faster the natural resources development on the whole i believe that latin american economies succeeded in finding
8:40 am
a balance between i think of maintaining economic stability and ensuring proper distribution of government funds in mexico you can talk of low inflation and almost zero budget deficit investments in the development of money factoring in a range of other factors. create new jobs and drive economic growth in the economy . and also. about health care and education given what it was greatest challenges mexican society is facing our existence. the issue of public safety still withstanding my presidential. at the end of the year and i think the next president needs to continue with the project of building new institutions because we mexicans will only rest when we have been only police force in place when we put an end to any corruption including a corrupt. and judicial agencies and this sense this is our major challenge yes
8:41 am
and the other. major economy that we need to run reform and. social areas because i believe our major challenges is raising quality of education reform us. as a new president takes office. that's a good question for the new president and despite our ideological differences i wish him well possible success because mexico needs all of the stages it goes through to be successful you need the president to enjoy possible support he needs to tackle important national issues like the overall i do no expect any major changes in the economy and i'm hopeful that he will continue with modernization and on the reforms driving mexico the economic competitiveness of the security issues he said himself that he would do all he can to our great governmental institutions point zero noise crime in social services we have clearly defined the outlines of
8:42 am
our health care education and support of the low income population programs and i believe this will continue roughly along the same lines and certainly nuances typical for mexico. now what about i want to end the last question where will we see you in the future will you be pursuing your political career. as for your second question i learned from my father when i was very young that politics is about serving the people for the common good as a citizen of my country i will do my best in order to achieve this goal in this respect i will continue working for the good of mexico on the other hand mexican law does not allow the president to be reelected whether six twelve or eighteen years after his term has ended so i'm at the end of my part of my career in politics because young president is the highest position one can ever hope to hold
8:43 am
but i am fifty years old now and i have every intention to live another fifty years or so in good health i hope that science will find a way to increase longevity got a long and eventful life that i intend to lead us of all be connected with my calling to serve my people although so far i couldn't tell you what it is exactly i'll be doing erica in the future my expenses are working for the kind of teaching writing really don't know a lot of books i've yet to read that's answer pending time with my children they were little annoying and now they are in and i would like to be there for them but that's how i see my future so when i go back to politics eventually i might open a law firm dealing with infrastructure projects i'm not sure how to provide a mentor like i.b.m. you rank you for the interview thank you. download

winning the last grand slam of the season and the american looked to be cruising after taking the first set six to the belorussian however as are and go for brilliantly winning the next set six two to level the much. and then she went on to lead five three in the third and so much. but we fought back in ruthless fashion reeling off four games in a row to win the match seven five in two hours and eighteen minutes the victory is her fifteenth grand slam singles title after winning her first u.s. open title thirteen years ago the biggest fan of success by a female singles player in the open era and the thirty year old says this victory is one of the sweetest i definitely enjoyed winnings and i would be lying if i wanted to be you know this long but it's noble if nothing is more exciting than winning such a tight match in
8:48 am
a grand slam final at this moment you know i have no regrets i felt like i gave it all you know. i could've gotten my way probably yes you know but it didn't. really really hurt so you know those emotions can come out and. you feel so but it's time to. really realize what happened today you know as a great match is just it was close but not for me well meanwhile defending champion novak djokovic took his place in the men's final against andy murray off to a force that victory over spain is that unfair the pair resumes then a match with farah leading it fighting off to a tornado warning the day before and although the spaniard served to take the first set six two it was all the serbian after that this mammoth twenty five point rally ending with a sizzling cross-court backhand from drop of which to level the match at one set
8:49 am
all and on and on goes and the world number two then so the next two sets six court six two to seal the match and he will next place limit champion murray this monday with a briton playing in his second u.s. open finally and aiming to claim his first grand slam title a factor djokovic is aware of and expects a tough challenge. i know. most of our matches that we played against each other were very close. on the small margins decide the winner and that's something that you is expected in a way because we have a similar games and. you know we are we're big rivals and. we have been top of the men's game for a long time so we know each other really well and. the last match he has won an olympic games also a close one but it's a different surface obviously you know it's a different surface different tactics apply so. well see you know tomorrow there's

the. amount of formula one and there is hamilton says his first victory at the italian grand prix came as a good time following a tough couple of weeks but written started from pole and lead almost throughout and out of a late challenge for mexican sergio perez who came second with the how to know a week after he crashed out of the race in belgium and then faced days of speculation that he was about to move to rivals miss eighty's bunch the twenty seven year old put to one side championship leader fernando alonso came third in his ferrari at their home race while my parents jenson button was forced to retire with mechanical problems and it was a bad day to the red bulls as sebastian vettel and mark webber also failed to finish denting their championship dreams along as though now tops the standings by thirty eight points from hamilton with seven races left oh i do do it it's been fantastic to win here and the best crowds and just so happy for my team. to do and i know it can be incredible yeah right on the gulf now rory

mcilroy has won the b.m.w. championship in indiana by two shots to claim his second title in two weeks and all the irishman started the day one shot behind joint leaders phil mickelson and v.j. saying and those two were looking good early on mickelson burying this forty two foot chip birdie wasing was also showing good form and sank his first birdie of the day on the fifth. but it was mcelroy who took the outright lead on the tenth and he went on to call it a five under par sixty seven for a two stroke victory ahead of mickelson and lee westwood that extends his lead at the top of the world rankings for what well number one tiger woods is back up to second after finishing joint fourth at crooked stick but it's michael roy who goes into the tour championship in a fortnight as the favorites to pocket the ten million dollar jackpot. you know i just feel like you know it's all sort of clicked into place and i've you know find

some confidence and. i just you know i just keep going with it you know i don't really have an explanation for it but yeah i mean this is the best golf i've ever played for sure to win three out of my last four starts you know one of those being a major has been playoff events. you know he said i agree a little rather than. hard on the european tour sweden special house and he's also enjoying the perfect warm up for the ryder cup in three weeks time by sinking an eagle on the eighteenth hole to win the k l m open by two shots in the netherlands and clinch his fifth tour title the victory was all or impressive as this week came close to with during after his baby son was admitted to hospital on friday lots who played only to be. on the final home off a part of a three hundred final round of sixty seven. attacking to make that pop and i was struggling in the you know a little bit towards the end i was hitting some of them yes to make that long pop you know for. walking up the last dollar forty if i can make that it's going to take a lot for the average guys to catch up so if you're fantastic feeling. staying with

golson frenchman alexander has won the slowdown you'll russian challenge cup by a single shot here in moscow from overnight some through thirteen a michael christian reports. going into the final fourth day of the russian challenge cup it looked as if he was well on his way to claiming his fifth european challenge tore title this season what with the talent topping the leaderboard on both day two and day three of the event however combination of rather miserable weather conditions and final day pressure ensured for a dramatic end to didi's two point lead over a pack of four players tied in second place meant playing it safe was not an option for st florian programs and england's chris lloyd blew their chance to overhaul the italian really on each getting a bogey and double bogey but denmark's morton or madsen and francis an exam kept the pressure on going into the back nine holes it was here what a d.d. lost his cool hitting three bogeys and a line collect mattson and surprisingly to take advantage that he needed to cancel
8:54 am
out. but another on the eighteenth meant that alexander kaleri had won the cup but only after he managed to save a par on the final hole i felt the whole day i think i played. better than i scored i played very well but i didn't score that well. i didn't look at the leaderboard so i didn't know. my goal was to finish ten and. i just hit a bad shot and fifteen and that cost me double bogey. i just played well i don't know if there is a tournament next year but i do like question because my grandparents are from russia i've never met them but they are from russia and i like the place especially the question. mark to who also needed to do you need to slip up to win said that in doing that he failed to notice the frenchman but was content with his overall
8:55 am
performance. i saw i was in the bushes big time and he made a very good par so you know i had softer him i wish i could have. so many shots out there. everybody feels the same very hard to do you know second place there was like thirty of the rankings so it does help me a lot and you know it gives you confidence for next week which is like our biggest week and you know it's all you can do is give it your best and you know finish second best i could do. so the third annual russian challenge cup has come to an end in a final frantic day with the italian and madsen could also have taken the top spot but of course in the end the frenchman prevailed and is taking home the prize unfortunately for the third year running no russian could make the cut but then again it is a common consensus that russia still is in a development stage and hopefully in the coming years should this tournament continue to grow as it has in the past we will be seeing more russians trying to
